5v5 soccer lineup sheet

About 5v5 soccer

Five-a-side is where most children meet organised soccer. With so few players, everyone touches the ball constantly, and the main coaching goal is to help the team spread out rather than follow the ball in a pack. Formations here are loose shapes, not fixed positions.

Who plays it: commonly the youngest age groups, around under-6 to under-8. The field: A very small field with small goals, so every player is always close to the ball. Age groups and field sizes vary from league to league, so check your own league's rules.

5v5 formations

There are 4 5v5 formations in the sheet maker. Each has its own printable lineup sheet and a short guide to its strengths and weaknesses:

• 2-2: First-time teams learning to keep some shape.
• 1-2-1: Teams ready to move beyond a simple square and pass with a purpose.
• 2-1-1: Teams that lose the ball near their own goal and need a safer way to build.
• 1-1-2: Confident groups that score freely and can afford some risk.

Want it filled in for you?

The free SOXY app does the parts a web page cannot. It keeps your roster, knows which players have said they are coming, and fills all four quarters so playing time comes out even. It rotates the goalkeeper, lets you drag players between positions, saves a lineup for every game, and prints this same sheet with the field, both coaches and the referees already on it.
