The job nobody mentions at the coaches' meeting

Coaching a youth soccer team is two jobs. One is on the grass. The other is the stream of messages: who is coming, where is the field, is practice still on, whose turn is it for snacks. The second job is the one that eats your evenings, and it is the one SOXY is built to shrink.

Know your numbers before game day

Each game and practice collects RSVPs from families, shown by player. Open the game on Friday night and you can see who is in, who is out and who has not answered, then nudge just the ones who have not replied. No more counting heads in the parking lot.

Lineups you can defend

Build a lineup for all four quarters on a pitch, from 5v5 to 11v11. Auto-fill shares playing time evenly among the players who are actually coming, rotates the goalkeeper, and shows each child's quarter count. When a parent asks why their child sat out, you have a fair answer. Print the sheet and hand a copy to your assistant.

Say it once

Post a change to the team board and every family is notified. Mark a game cancelled or postponed and the schedule updates for everyone. Replies stay attached to your post, and anything private goes to a direct message. Add your assistant coach or team parent as an admin so you are not the only one who can update things.

The league stuff, handled

If your league uses MatchTrak, your schedule, results and standings arrive on their own. If it does not, adding a game takes a few seconds, and repeating practices are entered once.

A coach's first week on SOXY

1. Create your team and add or import the schedule.
2. Add your players to the roster.
3. Send families the invite link.
4. Before each game: check RSVPs, auto-fill the lineup, print if you like.
